McCall explains new O'Brien deal

The League Two club had offered the defender a longer deal but the 20-year-old insisted on a one-year contract. McCall told the Telegraph and Argus: "If I was his age, I'd look for the security and go for two years. That's not me talking as the manager but just my opinion. "You never know what can happen because a year's a long time in football but hopefully he'll do as well next season as in the last one and we'll be sitting down again this time next year looking at something longer." McCall also insisted the delay in winger Joe Colbeck signing a new contract was no great concern. He added: "It's only a few minor things and not a case that he's hanging on. It's just the length of the contract because Joe comes up to 24 in a couple of years' time and the club have got to safeguard that he doesn't walk away for nothing. He loves this club and likes playing here so I don't foresee a problem."
