Everton target £4m Russia captain Ignashevich to replace City-bound Lescott

Everton have identified Russia international defender Sergei Ignashevich as a replacement for Manchester City-bound Joleon Lescott. The 29-year-old CSKA Moscow centre-back was part of Guus Hiddink's team that reached the semi-finals of Euro 2008 and is David Moyes' prime transfer target if Lescott is tempted by a big money move to Eastlands. City are willing to pay £16million for the England man as they look to gatecrash the top four of the Barclays Premier League - a fee that would be too good to turn down for cash-strapped Everton. But Moyes is desperate to keep his squad together after a fourth top six finish in the last five seasons and their run to last month's FA Cup final and will fight to keep Lescott at Goodison Park.
