Wadsworth: Scoreline flattered Latics

Hartlepool caretaker boss Mick Wadsworth described the 3-0 Carling Cup second round defeat by Barclays Premier League side Wigan as harsh. Sam Collins turned Hugo Rodallega's set-piece into his own net to put Wigan ahead after only three minutes before Jordi Gomez doubled the lead with a stunning free-kick. Victor Moses ensured the score had a flattering look when he fired in from the edge of the box four minutes from time. "If you'd have dropped down from Mars you'd struggle to know who the Premier League team was," Wadsworth said. He then appeared to distance himself from the possibility of taking on the manager's job full-time despite his side's unbeaten start to their league season. "The chairman has got to decide if he wants someone from outside and I'll just carry on until then. I've heard nothing to the contrary," he added.
