Cattermole laments Bruce loss

Lee Cattermole admits he is sad that Steve Bruce has left Wigan but insists he will try his best for incoming manager Roberto Martinez. Cattermole was a mainstay in the Latics midfield during the 2008/2009 campaign, before rising to prominence with the England Under 21 set-up, who get their European Championship campaign under way against Finland on Monday. The former Middlesbrough midfielder has been on Three Lions duty since the end of the Premier League season, a period which has seen Bruce leave the JJB Stadium for Sunderland. And the 21-year-old confessed he was disappointed to see the man who signed him leave the club.ShameWhen asked if he was sad to see Bruce gone he told Sky Sports News: "Yes definitely, I had a good year last year and he brought me to Wigan so it is a bit of a shame, but that's football."Managers change, players change all the time so hopefully I'll be able to do the same for Martinez."Cattermole reflected on a impressive campaign with Wigan that saw them spend long periods in the top-half of the table before finally ending up in 11th place, but the combative central midfielder's focus is now purely on international duty."I obviously really enjoyed last year and there's a lot of changes at Wigan, I think we have lost our manager and our staff now," he added."I'm going to concentrate on this tournament and get back and see what the situation is with Wigan and meet the new manager and see how it goes."
