As far as excuses go, Dimitar Berbatov's for failing to impress at Manchester United in his debut season is truly pathetic.
After being outshone by Wayne Rooney and out-worked by Carlos Tevez theBulgarian sounds like he is trying to convince himself that becoming aflop is in fact a measure of success
'I want people to remember me as a very good and skilful player. I don't want to be remembered as a top scorer,' Berbatov said.
'I've played with strikers with 100 goals, who can't control theball. It seems like a three-metre pass when they're trying to controlthe ball with their feet.'
Someone - Sir Alex Ferguson perhaps - should tell him thatgoalscoring and having a decent touch don't have to be mutuallyexclusive skills.
Oh yeah, and putting in a bit more effort wouldn'thurt either.
