Jelavic Gers switch soon - Smith

Walter Smith expects Nikica Jelavic to complete his long-awaited move to Rangers on Friday afternoon. The Scottish champions confirmed that he would be arriving in Glasgow to undergo a medical and thrash out personal terms. His move to Ibrox appeared imminent when the 24-year-old forward refused to play for Rapid Vienna in Thursday night's Europa League play-off against Aston Villa.Rangers have reportedly agreed a fee of £4million for the Croatian, who will be their third signing following the captures of James Beattie and Vladimir Weiss.Smith said: "It's been quite a protracted one. There has been a few hitches and (chief executive) Martin Bain has had to work extremely hard to get that one over the line."We will hopefully do that this afternoon and fingers crossed that's the case."The player over that time has always said that he would like to join us and hopefully that can be completed this afternoon."
