Cherries: Pitman rejects move but deal could be revived

CHERRIES chairman Eddie Mitchell has confirmed Brett Pitman has failed to agree a move to Blackpool - although the Echo understands the Seasiders could look to resurrect the deal. The Cherries striker flew to the North West yesterday after the two clubs settled on a fee. But after undergoing a medical and holding talks, Pitman did not reach agreement with the Premier League club. Mitchell revealed the striker was set to link up with Eddie Howe's side this afternoon ahead of the Tranmere Rovers game tomorrow. Meanwhile, sources close to the Daily Echo suggest Blackpool could still look to revive the transfer, with boss Ian Holloway clearly a big fan of the prolific frontman. Discussing Pitman yesterday, Holloway said: "I will pleased if it gets done and I think Brett epitomises us a bunch of people who want to make a name for ourselves. "I think Brett is fresh and hungry, and wants a chance at a higher level. I believe he can score at any level and I want to give him that opportunity. He plays with style, is a great finisher and has a great technique." More on this story as it develops.
