Simpson watches Williams

Stockport manager Paul Simpson will assess the fitness of defender Robbie Williams ahead of the trip to Stevenage. The former Huddersfield left-back, who is at Edgeley Park on a non-contract basis, is nursing a knock but is expected to be available as County go in search of their first win of the season. Simpson has no other major injury or suspension concerns and is keen for his side to kick-start their campaign. The former Carlisle, Preston and Shrewsbury boss has urged fans to back his side in numbers to boost revenue at the club. He said: "If the supporters start coming it will give me a cause to go and ask for a bit more money, it's as simple as that."
