Milner still 'improving and learning'

Manchester City new boy James Milner insists he still has much to learn even though he made his Premier League debut eight years ago at 16. And the England midfielder believes City is the perfect place to develop his game after finally sealing his protracted move from Aston Villa.Milner, 24, is set to make his debut against Liverpool on Monday after sitting out the club's Europa League play-off first leg match in Romania.Born in Leeds, he made his full debut for his hometown team in November 2002.Just a month later Milner became the youngest player to score in the Premier League when he found the target in Leeds' 2-1 victory against Sunderland. He then moved on to Newcastle before joining Villa after a previous loan spell at the club.Milner, with 11 caps to his name after playing 45 times for the Under-21s, said: "I've been lucky with my team-mates and managers, and you have to learn when you are surrounded by top players."You try to take the best things out of their game, add them to your own, and try to become the best player you can."If you're not improving and learning every day then there's something wrong."Manager Roberto Mancini has indicated that Milner is the final piece in the jigsaw and there will be no further signings in the transfer window. With Stephen Ireland going the other way, City's squad has a brand new look thanks to the financial muscle of the Abu Dhabi United group.David Silva, Mario Balotelli, Yaya Toure, Aleksander Kolarov and Jerome Boateng have also come on board.Milner added: "This is a great club that's going places very quickly. I played at Maine Road with Leeds and the new stadium has always had a great atmosphere when I've played there."
