Joe Cole found guilty of speeding

The 28-year-old Liverpool player was driving his Audi A4 on a dual carriageway in Surrey when a police officer spotted him breaking the 70mph limit. Staines Magistrates' Court heard that that the traffic officer clocked the vehicle travelling at 105mph. Dean George, representing Cole, claimed in court that the speed gun had not been used correctly, producing an inaccurate reading. But in a rare defeat for Mr Freeman's firm, District Judge Clive Wiles found the case against Cole to be proved. He warned the footballer, who was not in court, that he faces disqualification after it was revealed he already had six points on his licence. The speeding conviction caps a bad week for the millionaire sportsman, who was sent off during his debut for Liverpool against Arsenal on Sunday. Mr Freeman's legal firm, Freeman & Co, has successfully won cases for a string of celebrity clients including TV presenter Jeremy Clarkson, cricketer Andrew Flintoff, and footballers David Beckham and Wayne Rooney. The sentence was adjourned until August 27. Cole's driving licence will have to be produced that day, the District Judge said.
