Ipswich outlay doubles

Ipswich spent almost £300,000 on agents` fees in the 2009-10 season, more than double the amount spent in the previous year. The Tractor Boys committed a total of £298,308 to agents between June 1st 2009 and June 30th 2010, having spent only £122,625 in 2008-09. Spending on agents` fees increased by £3.9million across the whole of the Football League last year. On announcing the latest figures, Football League chairman Greg Clarke said: "Given the current economic climate, it is worrying to see such a significant amount leaking from the game. "This year`s figures demonstrate a considerable increase on those of last season and it is essential that clubs work to reduce this liability over the coming campaign."
