Potters prepare £9m Rodallega raid

Stoke manager Tony Pulis is reportedly preparing a £9million swoop for Wigan striker Hugo Rodallega as he wants "strong competition" up front. The Potters have already broken their transfer record this summer after signing fellow forward Kenwyne Jones for £8million from Sunderland, and they are now looking to smash it once more.Stoke only managed 34 goals in the Premier League last season and boss Pulis has targeted more firepower as he looks to improve their fortunes.Rodallega, 25, started every game in the top-flight for the Latics last term and managed to bag himself 10 goals in the process. With Wigan having now signed Mauro Boselli from Estudiantes, Roberto Martinez may be prepared to listen to offers for Rodallega and Pulis could get his man.The Stoke gaffer said in the Daily Mirror: "We want to get four or five more players in. If the deal isn't right for us we won't do it."We need goals in our team and we also need strong competition among our strikers if we are to continue improving at this level."
