Wigan want Roberto Martinez to replace Steve Bruce

Bruce is expected to replace Ricky Sbragia at Sunderland, with chairman Niall Quinn currently discussing a negotiaton package with Dave Whelan, the Wigan owner. "Roberto would be near the top of any list we formulate," said the Wigan owner. Martinez guided Swansea to the League One title in 2007-8, and gained plaudits for the attractive football played by his side in the Championship this season. He has also been linked with the manager's position at Celtic following Gordon Strachan's resignation.
