The 49-year-old will officiate the Latics' opening game at home to Blackpool on Saturday - his first top-flight fixture for 12 months after being diagnosed with throat cancer.Halsey has recovered from the disease, refereeing five Football League matches at the end of last season, but will make his Premier League return at the DW Stadium. His last top-flight game was Arsenal's 6-1 win at Everton on the opening day of last season."It is great news. He has been an example the way he has striven to be back at the top level," said Martinez."He is a great role model, not just for football people but life in general, without realising it and he has inspired many people."He is a fighter, a winner and we all have huge respect for Mark."I am sure from now on he won't want any sympathy from anyone as a referee - and he is a very good one - and we are delighted to see him out on the pitch."
