Former England manager Steve McClaren is on the shortlist to replace Martin Jol at German side Hamburg.
Jol, the ex-Tottenham Hotspur manager, resigned earlier this week to return to his Dutch homeland and take over at Ajax.
McClaren has made a positive impression during his first season in charge of FC Twente, leading them to second place in the Dutch Leagueand the Cup final, where they lost in a penalty shoot-out to Heerenveen.
While McClaren is happy in Holland, he may consider working in the more competitive Bundesliga a step up as he rebuilds his career following his sacking as England boss in the wake of failure to qualify for Euro 2008.
