Quinn won't rush manager search

Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn has promised to take his time and find a big-name manager to replace Ricky Sbragia. Sbragia announced after the Black Cats' final game of the season, a 3-2 defeat at home to Chelsea, that he would be standing down. He had taken charge in December following the departure of Roy Keane and successfully kept the club in the Premier League, despite a wobble in the last few weeks. Quinn has been delighted with the job Sbragia has done but accepts that he must now look for a boss with a higher profile. He said: "It needs a big man to take on a mantle, to take the pressure, to take the interest, to take the strain of getting a big club like this to go forward and to change the mentality. "Big people change mentalities. I will do everything I can to deliver a big name. "We haven't sat down to even think about managers or lists of managers. "But what I would say - and Ricky knows it too - we do need a big name here, but we need somebody, I believe, who will change the mentality of the dressing room. "The person I believe can do that will be top of the list." The likes of Martin Jol, Frank Rijkaard, Steve Bruce and Steve McClaren have been linked with the role in recent weeks but Quinn insists he is in no hurry to make a decision. "That's for another day," he said. "Today is about taking stock of what we have done and getting a night's sleep tonight. "I haven't even set a timescale for starting to talk about it, and that's the truth."
