Wigan manager Steve Bruce insists his side will be playing for pride and not cash when they host Portsmouth on the final day of the Barclays Premier League season.
A victory, plus defeat for Stoke against Arsenal at the Emirates, could mean the Latics finish 11th and bank about £7.6 million in prize money.
However, defeat and wins for Bolton and Blackburn would drop Wigan to 15th, which is worth £4.6million.
But money is not the driving factor for Bruce.
"I believe it is something like £800,000 a place on where you finish - astronomical figures - but we as a team just want to go out and win," said the Latics boss.
"It is the kudos of finishing 11th which is important to me - I know other people say different - rather than finishing 14th or 15th."
