Money not motivating Bruce

Wigan manager Steve Bruce insists his side will be playing for pride and not cash when they host Portsmouth on the final day of the Barclays Premier League season. A victory, plus defeat for Stoke against Arsenal at the Emirates, could mean the Latics finish 11th and bank about £7.6 million in prize money. However, defeat and wins for Bolton and Blackburn would drop Wigan to 15th, which is worth £4.6million. But money is not the driving factor for Bruce. "I believe it is something like £800,000 a place on where you finish - astronomical figures - but we as a team just want to go out and win," said the Latics boss. "It is the kudos of finishing 11th which is important to me - I know other people say different - rather than finishing 14th or 15th."
