Wenger wants Cesc for 'many seasons'

Arsene Wenger has hinted there is no agreement to let Cesc Fabregas leave next summer, claiming Arsenal are "not in a Cristiano Ronaldo place". Barcelona have been chasing Fabregas for a number of seasons and looked certain to finally land the Spain midfielder this summer after another trophyless season for Arsenal.Fabregas has since committed himself to the Gunners for the forthcoming season but it had been suggested that he may have been promised a move to the Nou Camp in a year's time.It is believed Cristiano Ronaldo was given a similar promise by Manchester United 12 months ahead of his eventual move to Real Madrid but Wenger claims there is no such agreement with Fabregas. "We are not in a Cristiano Ronaldo place," he said."Fabregas is one of our best players. We want him to stay and be focused."He will be our captain this season and I hope for many seasons to come."Two more players likely to be heavily involved this season are Kieran Gibbs and Jack Wilshere - both called up to the latest England squad - and Wenger says the duo are looking "sharp"."Kieran Gibbs is slowly coming back to his best. That is good news for us and for England I believe," Wenger told the club's official website."Walcott and Wilshere were a little jaded [against Legia], but overall they have had a very sharp pre-season campaign."The Gunners completed their pre-season preparations with an astonishing 6-5 victory at Legia Warsaw and Wenger has been happy enough with his squad's progress ahead of the opening game at Liverpool next Sunday..However, the Arsenal manager noted: "In pre-season it is important to play the way you want to play. You have to be detached from the result."We are just focused on the new season."Andrey Arshavin did not travel to Poland as the Russian has a minor muscular problem, but is expected to be in consideration for the game at Anfield - where he scored all of Arsenal's goals in the 4-4 draw during April 2009 and netted again in last season's 2-1 away victory over the Reds.
