Carlo not ruling out treble chance

Carlo Ancelotti has not ruled out Chelsea winning more than two major trophies this season - but would take a repeat of last term's double. The Blues kick off their 2010-11 campaign on Sunday at the venue where they ended the 2009-10 season: Wembley. After the Community Shield clash with Manchester United, the real business begins for Ancelotti's men as they try to defend their Barclays Premier League and FA Cup successes. That represented the most successful season in the club's history, but there was still a twinge of disappointment at Stamford Bridge as the Champions League once again proved elusive.Despite losing big-name players in the shape of Michael Ballack and Joe Cole this summer, Ancelotti insists he still has a squad capable of competing - and even winning - on all fronts.Asked if Chelsea could win more than two major trophies, he said: "More? Maybe."I think that last year, we did the best. I think every player did the best possible."We want to do the same. We are able to do this."The Italian added: "I think we have to be competitive in all the competitions, not only in the Premier League and not just in the Champions League."Obviously, they are fantastic competitions."We did very well in the Premier League; we hope to do better in the Champions League."Ancelotti would also have been hoping for better in pre-season, with Chelsea failing to register a victory over top-flight opposition in the build-up to Sunday's game. But the Italian shrugged off recent results, alluding to the fact his World Cup players had only recently returned to training."It was a different pre-season because not all the players started together," he said."We were disappointed about the defeats because losing is not a good thing. Now we are looking forward."Those sentiments were echoed by defender Branislav Ivanovic, who will partner John Terry at the back on Sunday."Some of us have only just started pre-season, which is a very important period," said the Serbia international, who nevertheless believes the Blues are in good shape for their Wembley clash with United."It is always a tough game against United, but I think we will be as ready as we can and we need to give our maximum against them."After playing second fiddle to Paulo Ferreira and Jose Boswinga at right-back during his early Stamford Bridge career, Ivanovic made the position his own last season - partly due to an injury to Boswinga.Ferreira has been back in favour during pre-season but, far from being frozen out, Ivanovic has found himself thrust into the heart of Chelsea's defence."I am here to play wherever the manager says, and for me it is good because I can play in two positions," Ivanovic told his club's official website, www.chelseafc.com."For me, last season was a great season, but every season you can do better and I will give my maximum and hope I can give the club more than last season."Every time you win, you want to show next year you are better, so we must do that."And despite knowing the impending return of Boswinga from a knee injury could hamper his chances of staying in the side, Ivanovic insists he wants the Portugal international fit as soon as possible."I don't look at it like a battle," he said."Jose is a fantastic player, he has been injured almost a year and we are waiting for him to be fit again so that he can help the team."That is the most important thing."
