Shearer stays silent over his Newcastle future and admits Owen is a doubt

Alan Shearer is refusing to discuss his future as he prepares for Sunday's decisive Premier League showdown with Aston Villa. And the Newcastle manager has admitted he does not know if Michael Owen will be fit for the final game of the season. Shearer takes his side to Villa Park looking for the win which will take Newcastle out of the bottom three and ensure survival in the Premier League if Hull City or Sunderland fail to win their matches. The former club captain was given eight games to rescue Newcastle but his side are still in the drop zone. However, he refuses to say whether he will stay on as manager. Shearer said 'Its not important - anything other than the game is irrelevant. 'There will be speculation about me and the owner but this is not the time. Newcastle United is much more important. I am just focused on Sunday's game. 'It's bigger than a cup final, a hell of a lot bigger than a cup final. The question has been asked on four or five occasions over the last four or five games, 'Is this the biggest game of your career?', and I keep answering: 'Yes, because it's the next one'.
