Walsall boss Chris Hutchings cannot call on striker Troy Deeney for the club`s opening game of the season at home to MK Dons.
Despite Hutchings previously stating Deeney would play against the Dons, the 22-year-old's time with the club is now at an end after the Saddlers agreed to sell him to Watford.
Elsewhere, it has been a summer of change for the Saddlers with no less than 13 players departing, including Clayton Ince, Rhys Weston, Dwayne Mattis and Mark Hughes.
But Hutchings has bolstered his ranks with a host of new faces in Ryan McGivern, Jonny Brain, Paul Marshall, Dave Bevan, Oliver Lancashire and Aaron Lescott.
All will be hoping to have impressed enough during pre-season to have staked a claim for a starting berth against a Dons side expected to be there or thereabouts in the promotion race come May.
