Roy Keane desperate to sign Jason Scotland from Wigan

Ipswich target: Wigan striker ScotlandIpswich boss Roy Keane is trying to sign Wigan striker Jason Scotland in time for him to make his debut at Middlesbrough on Saturday. Keane wants the Trinidad & Tobago international to join on loan with a view to completing a £750,000 deal on a two-year contract before the transfer window closes. Scotland, 31, is surplus to requirements at Wigan after following boss Roberto Martinez from Swansea in a £2million deal last year. He managed to score just twice in 36 appearances for the Latics and Martinez needs to sell players in order to complete the proposed £3.5m purchase of Turkish striker Tuncay from Stoke. But Keane is more interested in Scotland's proven ability at Championship level after he netted 53 times in 105 appearances for Swansea, who paid just £25,000 to sign him from St Johnstone in May 2007. Scotland fits the bill for the strong, pacy marksman Keane has targeted for the Tractor Boys and he also retains a strong interest in luring Michael Chopra from Cardiff. Keane's transfer kitty is being provided by the imminent sale of Ipswich skipper Jon Walters to Stoke. Wigan's £3m bid for Tuncay rejected by Stoke boss Tony PulisSign up to our FREE Fantasy Football game - with £40,000 in prize money up for grabsKeane confirms Stoke City are closing in on £3m Ipswich striker WaltersThe Championship contenders and pretenders: Who'll be heading up and down this season.WIGAN ATHLETIC FC
