Turner wins again

Defender Michael Turner has been named player of the year by the Hull Supporters Club for the third consecutive season. The 25-year-old has been outstanding in the Tigers' first season in the Premier League and has been tipped for future international honours. He was linked with Liverpool and Manchester City earlier in the campaign but signed a two-year contract extension, committing him to Hull until 2013, in February. Captain Ian Ashbee was runner-up with Brazilian star Geovanni third. Geovanni, who joined the club on a free after being released by Manchester City, won the goal of the season prize for his stunning strike in October's shock win at Arsenal.
