Tottenham's Roman Pavlyuchenko has apologised for storming straight down the tunnel against Manchester City.
The Russian striker reacted badly to being substituted 15 minutes from time in Saturday's 2-1 victory over City, rushing back towards the dressing room instead of joining his team-mates on the bench.
Manager Harry Redknapp sarcastically applauded Pavlyuchenko and has since criticised him for being disrespectful.
The 27-year-old has now admitted he made a mistake but insisted he was frustrated with his own display on the pitch, and not upset with Redknapp.
He explained: "During the game I had a couple of chances to score but I didn't take those chances so I was angry at myself when I came off the pitch, not at the decision to replace me.
"I know it was not my best performance but I blame myself for that and nobody else.
"I did not mean to cause offence with my actions and I apologise to my team-mates, the coaching staff and the supporters, who have treated me so well since I arrived."
The latest incident has increased speculation about Pavlyuchenko's future, with reports suggesting he could leave White Hart Lane after a quiet first season in the Premier League.
But Pavlyuchenko maintains that he has enjoyed his time with Spurs and will try to improve next term.
He said: "To get the opportunity to show my appreciation to the fans during the walk round with my team-mates at the end of the game was a special moment. They have been so welcoming and supportive towards me.
"It is now up to me to go away and work on sharpening up in front of goal."
