Moyes hails players' attitude

Everton manager David Moyes has hailed the season-long effort of his players after their 3-1 defeat of West Ham. The Toffees moved up to fifth-place in the Premier League with the victory as Aston Villa could only manage a draw with struggling Middlesbrough. But Moyes insists that even if his side fall back to sixth on the final day of the season, it will still have been a fantastic campaign."If we could finish fifth it will be great but I still think it will be a really good season if we stay sixth," Moyes told Sky Sports."I think I would have taken that at the start of the season with the money which many clubs have spent, we didn't have that. Credit"What's been great is the way our players have gone about it, I can't give them enough credit."Despite enjoying the majority of possession in the opening minutes of the game, Everton fell behind when Radoslav Kovac struck from over 30 yards out.The Scottish manager admits that it was a shock to see their opponents take the lead after such a positive start."I thought we were terrific in the first 20-30 minutes, we just couldn't pick that final pass or that final cross and then we found ourselves a goal down," Moyes added.Shock"That was a shock to us but we had played well enough not to be in that situation."Overall, our play was really good I was pleased with the way the players started the game I was pleased the way we went about it but just disappointed that goal went in."Moyes also had some sympathetic words for James Tomkins, who was sent-off for tripping Tim Cahill inside the penalty area.He said: "It was a double whammy nobody likes it, you get a penalty kick and a player gets sent off. It's not what you want but it is the rules."It was a penalty kick there's no question about that, but I don't think any of us in football really like the rule where they get sent off."
