Berra: Wolves can survive once again

Christophe Berra hopes to prove the doubters wrong once again and help Wolves secure Premier League survival for the second successive season. The Scotland international formed a fine partnership with Jody Craddock last season and they are expected to continue at the heart of the Wolves defence when the new term gets underway."I've set targets for myself and that's to be in that starting XI this season," he told the Sunday Mercury."And as a team we've got to improve and finish as high up as we can."Obviously, staying in the Premier League is the first aim but we must also try to finish above 15th."I want to try to improve my game, work on my weaknesses and carry on doing what I do good."I just want to carry on where I left off last season and carry on working up that ladder."It's been an enjoyable 18 months but don't get me wrong there's been some down points, we've been under pressure a few times but always seem to bounce back."Berra says Wolves, already one of the favourites for the drop, can prove the doubters wrong again."Each season is always going to be your biggest test. So we've got to be prepared. We know that we'll be written-off by people but we've a good squad and great character."We always work hard and listen to the manager. We proved a lot of people wrong last season and hopefully we can do the same this."We've brought some new additions who have strengthened the squad and make us better."Berra certainly hopes he and Craddock will carry on where they left off in May."We formed a good partnership last season and ended it well - but that's gone now. It's in the past," he added."We're both professional and both know that we have to keep our personal levels up and we are both looking to improve this year."The pair are alike off the pitch with similar softly spoken, level-headed characteristics."When we go away we share a room together. We're quite quiet guys. We enjoy the banter but we're not the ringleaders of the squad," said Berra."We have a laugh and a joke but centre-halves are usually very professional, get on with their job and are serious kinda guys."You see forwards and midfielders and they're trying to chat you to death, cracking jokes all the time."You'll find that at most clubs."
