Carr close to new Blues deal
irmingham skipper Stephen Carr is believed to be close to signing a new deal at St Andrew's. Carr has been a massive success at Blues since his shock move to the club in February 2009.The 33-year-old came out of retirement to join Birmingham and he helped them win promotion back to the Premier League.Carr made 40 appearances for Blues last season and he remains a key member of Alex McLeish's first-team plans.The former Newcastle and Tottenham star's current deal has just one-year to run on it and Birmingham are ready to offer him a two-year extension to keep him at St Andrew's.
