Hoops seal for ?2.4m Hooper swoop

Celtic have completed the signing of highly-rated striker Gary Hooper from Scunthorpe for an undisclosed fee reported to be £2.4million. Hooper will join the Bhoys squad for the Champions League tie against Braga. The 22-year-old is due to arrive at Glasgow airport this morning to meet up with his new team mates before they fly to Portugal.Hooper is the sixth summer signing of Celtic's new manager Neil Lennon. Speaking at Glasgow airport, Lennon said: "He will be coming later on. "There is just a little bit of paperwork we had to smooth over. "I don't know about playing but he will be in the squad. "I was pleased to get him, he has been on our radar for quite a while. "I think we have a good player on our hands, his record is very good. "It's not just goals, he can play a little bit as well and there were a lot of clubs after his signature." Mexico midfielder Efrain Juarez, who completed his move to the Parkhead club on Monday, was part of the Celtic travelling party as was other new boys Charlie Mulgrew, Cha Du-Ri, Joe Ledley and Daryl Murphy. Star midfielder Aiden McGeady, who missed the pre-season trip to North America and Saturday's friendly against Lincoln due to a thigh injury, will also travel. Lennon added: "We've got so many good attacking options and McGeady is fit, which is a bonus." On turning up at Glasgow airport, Hooper looked forward to his first trip abroad to play football and meeting up with his new team mates. He said: "I'm a little bit nervous, it's the first time I've travelled abroad for a game. "But I am looking forward to it and ready to meet my team mates. "Celtic is a massive club and when I knew they were interested they were the only club I wanted to come to. "I signed yesterday and had a medical last night which finished about eight o'clock. "I had to sign a few papers this morning and fax them but that's it done." Lennon also confirmed that negotiations were continuing with Israel international Biram Kayal and the Hoops boss is still hoping to hold talks with England keeper David James who had to cancel his proposed trip to Parkhead on Monday due to family reasons.
