Megson targets maximum points

Gary Megson has urged Bolton to end the season on a high after all-but securing their Premier League status with a goalless draw at home to Sunderland on Saturday. The Trotters are now on 40 points and should be safe, despite a lacklustre first-half performance at the Reebok in which Ricky Sbragia's visitors dominated. But Bolton came out a different side in the second period and Riga Mustapha went close before Gary Cahill's last-gasp header brought out a fantastic Marton Fulop diving save. And Megson told Sky Sports: "I thought we started OK in the first few minutes but after that they got themselves into the game and completely dominated it."I think they had eight shots to our one in the first 45 - they didn't have one in the second 45 because we started playing how I expect us to play and how we have played for most of the season."Bolton's safety will be confirmed if Monday night's fixture between Newcastle and Middlesbrough ends in a draw, and when asked if he will be watching the clash Megson replied: "We'll watch it but there's nothing we can do about it."The Trotters boss does feel his side can end the current campaign with a strong finish and would be delighted to see maximum points gained from their remaining fixtures.Megson added: "You're judged over the course of 38 games and I want us to end it with a couple of wins - it would be great."
