Moyes disappointed for Blues

Everton boss David Moyes has admitted that he wanted Chelsea to reach the UEFA Champions League final. The Blues looked set to progress to the Rome showpiece until Andres Iniesta's late strike sealed a 1-1 draw for Barcelona and success on the away goals rule. Chelsea may now be able to prepare more thoroughly for their FA Cup final against Everton later this month but that is not the only reason Moyes wanted them to prevail. He explained: "It would probably have suited us if they were still in it because it would have given them another game. "But I was disappointed. I'd have liked Chelsea to have gone through for everyone's sake and I'm disappointed they did not make it. "Overall the final is a one-off game at Wembley and who knows how it's going to go." Relaxed Moyes has stressed to his players the importance of staying focused on their upcoming Premier League games but he accepts that his own thoughts do occasionally drift towards Wembley. "It is hard to block it out but it is not over-riding," he said. "I'm quite relaxed about the way things are going at the moment. The team is playing well and I'm not getting ahead of myself as far as that goes. "But daily there are things that have to be done working up to that game so that makes you think about it." Redknapp praiseThe Toffees face Tottenham at Goodison Park on Saturday and Moyes has been impressed by the progress the London side has made under Harry Redknapp. He said: "I'm looking forward to seeing Harry. He has done a brilliant job at Tottenham and turned them around since he took over. "I think Harry has got them a bit tougher and tighter but they will continue to play Tottenham-type football. "I don't think you could have doubted the squad of players. Most people in the country would have been tipping them to finish in the top six this year. "It shouldn't be a surprise to people that they are now doing well. In people like Luka Modric, Aaron Lennon, Robbie Keane and Jermaine Jenas they have some fabulous football players."
