Liverpool can't tempt former Arsenal star Gilberto without Champions League bait

Liverpool are set to be rebuffed by former Arsenal midfielder Gilberto Silva because they cannot offer him Champions League football. Gilberto, currently playing at Panathinaikos, has been linked with a return to England in the Greek media and is reportedly a target for Roy Hodgson.The Brazilian holding midfielder would be an ideal replacement for Javier Mascherano, who seems set to leave Anfield this summer, but the player's agent has played down a move.
