Clarets lose loan star

Burnley will not be able to use loan star Rhys Williams during the play-offs and he has returned to Middlesbrough. The 20-year-old has been forced to return to the struggling Premier League club after the Turf Moor outfit failed to get his initial three-month loan extended.Williams - yet to make his league debut for Boro - has impressed hugely for the Clarets and played 17 games for the club, helping them into the Championship play-offs.However, the Welsh defender has now returned to the North East and he could feature in Boro's end of season run-in."Rhys has had a very successful time at Burnley and it is unfortunate that Burnley are unable to extend the loan at this stage," said Gareth Southgate."However, we are delighted to have Rhys back in the squad for our final three matches of the season."Boro face local rivals Newcastle on Monday in a massive Premier League clash and Southgate is confident his players can come through at St James' Park."Holding your nerve is important - there will be some big atmospheres to cope with, some big matches to play in," he said."Going out and performing and being able to perform under pressure will be key, definitely."
