Gordon requires knee surgery

Craig Gordon will sit out Sunderland's final three games of the season as he is due to go under the knife. The Scotland international has been struggling with a knee complaint for some time and has undergone several scans on the problem in the last fortnight. It has now been decided that surgery is the best course of action, with the keeper keen to rid himself of the niggling knock.Black Cats medics are still uncertain as to the full extent and the cause of the problem, but Gordon accepts an operation is the only feasible option open to him."I'm going to have it done on Saturday and hopefully that can sort out the problem, as it's been a frustrating time for me," he told the club's official website."There's only three weeks of the season left so obviously that's the end of my campaign."There'll be a period of rest and recovery and then I'll start my rehab so I'm ready for pre-season training."
