York sign Chesterfield midfielder

Published: 13 Mar 2010 - 16:55:04

York City have signed Chesterfield midfielder Paul Harsley on loan until the end of the season, and he was named on the bench for their weekend visit to Altrincham. The vastly experienced 31-year-old has more than four hundred senior appearances during a career that has also taken in Grimsby Town, Scunthorpe United, Halifax Town, Northampton Town, Macclesfield Town, Port Vale and Darlington (loan). Harsley helped his hometown club Scunthorpe to promotion via the play-offs during his time there, while also finishing top scorer with Halifax Town on eleven goals as they suffered relegation from the Football League. He later went on to captain Port Vale and was also named as their player of the year, but turned down a new contract after they were relegated at the end of the 2007-08 campaign. Earlier this season he had a three-month loan spell at League Two strugglers Darlington.
