York City v Fleetwood Town
Published : 06 Apr 2012 23:13:04
York City welcome leaders Fleetwood Town to Bootham Crescent needing an immediate response from their surprise midweek defeat at Newport County.
The Minstermen should be able to welcome back central defenders Chris Smith and Chris Doig [right] after both missing out at Spytty Park.
Skipper Smith has been suffering from the effects of a virus and Doig was struggling with a groin injury, and both sat out the 2-1 defeat in Gwent - a first away loss in fourteen league games. But sixteen-goal striker Jason Walker is still out with the hamstring problem that has troubled him over much of the second-half of the season."It's a chance for us at home to get points and put that right from the last home game," York manager Gary Mills told BBC Radio York."Fleetwood come in to the same category in that I've always said if we play how we can play then we can beat anybody and that [includes] Fleetwood."I'm not taking anything away what [Fleetwood] have done because that's fantastic, but I know we're capable of beating them and picking up points to keep us in the play off situation."It's going to be tough, they're top of the league. It's about us picking up points." Fleetwood can wrap-up the title with victories in their next couple of games after only challengers Wrexham, who they entertain on Tuesday, suffered a shock 1-0 home defeat to Alfreton Town on Friday.Former York duo Richard Brodie and Peter Till will most likley have to settle for places on the bench while midfielder Jamie Milligan is still out with a back injury.
