Swallow set for York chance
Published: 31 Jan 2012 - 23:04:02
Former Bristol Rovers winger Ben Swallow is to complete a move to York City.
The 22-year-old is a free agent after recently being allowed to leave Rovers and already has some experience in the Conference during a previous loan spell at Bath City.Indeed he had a penalty saved by Michael Ingham when the two sides met at Bootham Crescent back in September. But Swallow hasn't actually appeared for Rovers since being sent-off within a few moments of his introduction as a substitute in an FA Cup tie at AFC Totton in early December. He becomes the second deadline day arrival for York, following on from Sheffield United youngster Erik Tonne, who has joined on loan for the rest of the season.
Meanwhile, midfielder Andre Boucaud earlier departed the club for promotion rivals Luton Town in a £25,000 deal."Ben Swallow is coming from Bristol Rovers. He should be with us on Thursday," York manager Gary Mills confirmed to The Press."These are two players that I rate highly. I hoped to get Ben a few weeks ago. He's coming to a positive club - a club with a lot to play for."
