Smith departs York for Mansfield

Adam Smith has left York City in favour of a one-year contract at Blue Square Premier rivals Mansfield Town. The former Gainsborough Trinity winger has struggled to really establish himself at Bootham Crescent despite showing plenty of early potential. He managed only eighteen starts for the Minstermen last season and netted twice. Previously he had a spell at Chesterfield."I'm absolutely over the moon and am already looking forward to my career with the Stags," Smith told Mansfield's official website."This club is going the right way. There is clear ambition here and the manager is determined to put the club back in the Football League. I have a good gut feeling about this move," he added.Stags manager David Holdsworth commented: "I am delighted to capture someone of Adam's versatility. He can play on either wing and up front. He shows both pace and dynamism to our forward line."
