My squad is fantastic - Foyle

York City manager Martin Foyle backed his side after they suffered a first league defeat in over three months at Ebbsfleet United. The Minstermen went down to a controversial 52nd minute winner from Moses Ashikodi at Stonebridge Road, where leading scorer Richard Brodie was later brandished a straight red card for his challenge on Dean Pooley. "I thought the lads were very committed. We've worked very, very hard," Foyle told BBC Radio York. "Give credit to Ebbsfleet, they've played the conditions, it was a very lively pitch. I think they cancelled us out and we cancelled them out without really any goalmouth action at both ends."Foyle also claimed there had been a foul on defender James Meredith in the build-up to Fleet's winner."Of course there was," he continued. "The refereee said he wasn't sure. I thought the referee handled it very, very well today. But it was a foul and it's then taken a deflection and caught Ingy (Michael Ingham) in his near post."York will now be without the services of their 27-goal leading scorer Brodie for the next three games after he was sent-off midway through the second-half"Yes it's going to be dealt with internally. Richard's been absolutely fantastic, he's not a malicious lad, but that's a side of his game we've worked very, very hard on to try and take away."The defeat was York's first in the league since a 3-1 reversal at Crawley Town at the end of October. But Foyle has no doubts over the promotion credentials of his side."Of course I've got faith in this squad," he added. "They are fantastic. They've been third and fourth in the league all season."
