Foyle ready to strengthen
Published : 19 May 2010 15:14:04
Martin Foyle has been given the go-ahead to strengthen his squad even though the Minstermen missed out on a really significant cash boost at the weekend. Estimated figures suggested that York could have earned in the region of £700,000 if they had made their way past Oxford United in their play-off final and completed a return to the Football League. As it was they were still due to receive around £200,000 for making it to the Wembley showpiece occasion. Now chairman Jason McGill has given manager Foyle the all-clear to look for re-enforcements in a bid to make an even more sustained challenge next season."The play-offs and our trip to Wembley have been of financial benefit to the club," McGill told The Press. "We won`t have final figures at this stage, but we hope to accumulate £200,000."We will be investing in the squad, as we did last season, and have already encouraged key members of the team to sign new contracts. New players will also be joining the club in the close season to strengthen and bolster our chances of success."Through all the disappointment, the message to our fans, who were tremendous throughout the campaign, is we will be trying our hardest to go one step better next season and promotion to the Football League remains our principal aim and focus," he continued."Thank you to everyone who supported us at Wembley and for all the messages of encouragement the club has received."
