Former York City striker Neil Woods has lost his job as manager of Grimsby Town after fifteen months in charge at Blundell Park. The 44-year-old has been relieved of his duties with immediate effect, and leaves the Mariners currently in ninth place in the table and nine points away from the play-offs. His assistant Dave Moore takes temporary control of team duties."Neil has been a terrific servant to the club and the decision has not been an easy one," said a statement released on the club's official website."The club will not be promoting from within and will consider all applications along with a number of targets."It is important the club makes a timely appointment to keep alive their play-off aspirations."Woods' father, Alan, also played for the Minstermen for six seasons as an industrious wing-half during the 1960s.
