Alfreton Town v York City
Published : 09 Apr 2012 14:23:39
York City need to get right back on track following consecutive defeats for the first time this season when visiting Alfreton Town on Easter Monday.
Manager Gary Mills was hoping skipper Chris Smith and right-back Jon Challinor would be fit to return after missing the weekend defeat to leaders Fleetwood Town due to illness. But sixteen-goal joint-leading scorer Jason Walker is once more doubtful with a recurrence of a hamstring problem, while midfielder Eugen Bopp [right] dislocated a shoulder on his full debut against Fleetwood and was expected to miss the rest of the season.“We’ve lost two games on the trot and we aren’t used to that so it’s hard to take but there’s no point in feeling sorry for ourselves," Mills told The Press“We are going to a team in form in Alfreton but we are remaining positive because we are a side that bounces back and, if we play how we did against Fleetwood, we will get enough points in the remaining five games to keep us in that top five.“Jon Challinor has been ill but wasn’t feeling too bad over the weekend. Chris Smith lost a lot of weight and did not feel strong enough to play on Saturday but, with another 48 hours having passed, I am hoping he will be okay for Alfreton."He added: “I’m also hoping Jason Walker will be available, but I don’t think he will be.” Alfreton have won seven of their last eight games but are without centre-back Adam Quinn (knee), while winger Nathan Arnold (hamstring) is also doubtful after both suffered injuries during the 1-0 victory at Wrexham on Good Friday.
