Dave Winfield suspended for relegation-threatened York's must-win clash

York will be without suspended defender Dave Winfield as they bid to extend their Football League status with a home win against Portsmouth.

Centre-half Winfield sits out a one-game ban after his dismissal for two yellow cards in Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Hartlepool so Huddersfield loanee Will Boyle could return to contention.

Forward Michael Coulson and striker Jake Hyde will both be monitored as they continue their struggles with respective groin problems, while midfielder James Berrett, who missed out on Saturday as his wife went into labour, remains doubtful.

The Minstermen, winless in 12 matches, are 11 points adrift of safety with four games left and a win against Portsmouth might not be enough if other results go against them.

A win for Pompey would strengthen their position in the play-off places and could still keep them in the hunt for automatic promotion.

A 2-1 defeat against Plymouth last time out means those hopes are now slim and they are still likely to be without Conor Wilkinson for the trip north.

The on-loan Bolton striker is struggling with a groin injury and has yet to make his debut for Paul Cook's side.

Goalkeeper Ryan Fulton (thigh) is also expected to miss out for Portsmouth.
