Duo set for York outing

York will include new signings Josh Carson and Elliott Whitehouse in their squad for the home game against Mansfield.

Carson, who had a spell on loan with the Minstermen last season, has signed until the end of the season following his release from Ipswich and fellow midfielder Whitehouse has joined on loan from Sheffield United for an initial month.

Strikers Richard Cresswell (eye) and Wes Fletcher (ankle), plus defender David McGurk (hamstring) remain doubtful and face late fitness tests, while forward Ryan Jarvis (cut head) could also miss out.

Winger Sander Puri has returned unscathed from international duty with Estonia and on-loan Middlesbrough striker Ryan Brobbel is available after being away with Northern Ireland Under-21s.

Striker Matt Rhead will miss Mansfield's trip to York through suspension.

Rhead must serve a one-match ban after being sent off for two yellow card offences during the Stags' 1-1 draw at fellow Football League newcomers Newport last Saturday.

Mansfield manager Paul Cox is likely to choose between Calvin Andrew and Ollie Palmer as a strike partner for Sam Clucas. However, Jake Speight, Ross Dyer and Lee Stevenson are also options and all kept themselves ticking over with goals in the reserves this week.

Anthony Howell returned to the squad at Newport and Kieran Murtagh is not too far away from full fitness so goalkeeper Ian Deakin (dislocated shoulder) is now the only injury absentee for Cox.
