McLaughlin missing for Minstermen York are without Patrick McLaughlin as they welcome Chesterfield to Bootham Crescent. The midfielder is away on international duty with Northern Ireland Under-21s for their qualifying games against FYR Macedonia and Denmark. McLaughlin scored for York in a 3-1 victory over Oxford last weekend and will leave a big gap in the centre of midfield which boss Gary Mills could fill by giving John McReady his full debut. Winger Ashley Chambers missed Tuesday's Johnstone's Paint Trophy victory at Rotherham and is a doubt once more, but even if he is fit he faces a battle to regain a starting spot after replacement Matty Blair scored the winning goal at the New York Stadium. Chris Doig, Dave McGurk, Jamie Reed and Oli Johnson are still out but Scott Kerr, who has been sidelined since April, returned to training this week as he nears a comeback. Goalkeeper Richard O'Donnell will make his full debut for Chesterfield. O'Donnell, a free transfer signing from Championship neighbours Sheffield Wednesday over the summer, made his first competitive appearance for the Spireites in midweek as a last-minute substitute for Tommy Lee as the holders began their defence of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy with a 2-1 home victory over Oldham. Lee landed awkwardly after coming to collect a cross and will be out for between six to eight weeks after damaging shoulder ligaments. Nathan Smith is also set for a spell on the sidelines after the defender underwent surgery on an ankle problem this week. Forward Craig Westcarr comes back into the reckoning after a one-match suspension. Caretaker boss Tommy Wright will be looking to deliver Chesterfield's first league win of the season following three consecutive 1-1 draws after the opening-day defeat at AFC Wimbledon.
