New duo in Minstermen squad

York's new signings Nick Pope and John McCombe will go straight into the squad for the home game against Bristol Rovers.

Charlton goalkeeper Pope has returned for a second loan spell at the club as cover for Michael Ingham and centre-back McCombe, a permanent signing late last week following his departure from Mansfield, is also expected to be on the bench.

Striker Ryan Jarvis is likely to miss out after taking a bang on the knee in last week's win at Northampton. He was forced off after stepping off the bench so Ryan Bowman should resume alongside Wes Fletcher up front.

Boss Nigel Worthington has no other new injury or suspension worries as his fast-improving side chase a fourth straight league win.

Bristol Rovers midfielder Tom Lockyer could return to the starting line-up.

Lockyer dropped to the bench for the 3-0 midweek FA Cup defeat at Birmingham after playing their previous two games while under the weather so Oliver Norburn was handed his first start since December.

That was John Ward's only change in midweek and with the games coming thick and fast he could ring the changes with Chris Beardsley and David Clarkson hoping to be handed starts.

Meanwhile fellow striker Jordan Goddard will not be involved having returned to Gloucester City for another month's loan spell.
