Minstermen wait on Everson clearance

York are hoping to receive international clearance for new signing Ben Everson in time for him to be included in the squad for the home game with Aldershot.

Middlesbrough-born Everson, who most recently played in Iceland, signed a deal until the end of the season on Wednesday after training with the Minstermen for the past month.

Attacking midfielder John McReady is expected to be included in the squad again. He returned to the bench last week after spending over three months on the sidelines with a dislocated shoulder.

But manager Gary Mills is still without fellow striker Ashley Chambers following recent surgery to resolve a stomach/groin problem and on-loan forward Alex Rodman, struggling with a hamstring problem, is ineligible to play against his parent club anyway.

Defender Chris Doig (ankle) remains sidelined, but David McGurk, stretchered off in last week's home draw with Cheltenham with a neck injury, is expected to resume at the heart of defence.

Strikers Michael Coulson (knee) and Oli Johnson (groin) remain sidelined.

Danny Hylton serves the second game of his three-match suspension as Aldershot chase a fourth successive victory.

The striker missed last weekend's 2-0 win over Accrington having capped his superb hat-trick in the club's 3-1 FA Cup success over Rotherham with a red card.

Manager Dean Holdsworth brought in Craig Reid against Stanley, while Dani Lopez also replaced Aaron Morris as part of two changes, and he watched as his side recorded a third successive victory.

Holdsworth, who is expected to boast no new injury or suspension problems, must now decide whether to stick or twist with his line-up.

The Shots boss will, however, be without assistant Matt Bishop in the dugout after he left the club this week with immediate effect.

Bishop arrived alongside Holdsworth in January 2011 after the pair worked together at non-league Newport, but his departure comes as part of a restructuring programme at the Hampshire outfit.
