Davies set for York boost

York defender Ben Davies is expected to recover from a knee injury in time for the home game against Accrington.

Davies, on loan from Preston, missed last week's goalless draw at leaders Rochdale but is hoping to return to the starting line-up and manager Nigel Worthington must decide whether to keep faith with teenage replacement Tom Allan.

Worthington has no new injury or suspension problems, but midfielder Josh Carson is expected to be out for seven months with cruciate ligament damage and striker Wes Fletcher will be sidelined for three months with medial ligament damage.

The Minstermen are hoping to retain their place in the play-off spots by extending their unbeaten run to 13 matches.

Accrington full-back Adam Buxton is available to play some part.

Buxton had been due to return to parent club Wigan at the culmination of his 28-day loan but the deal has been extended until the end of the season.

Boss James Beattie has full-back options as Laurence Wilson has had the full week of training he needed following a groin injury.

Young striker Marcus Carver recently picked up a knee problem but Accrington are otherwise untroubled on the injury front.
