York snap up striker

York City have announced the signing on loan of Kettering Town striker Moses Ashikodi.

The 24-year-old former England youth international has agreed a deal until January with the prospect of a loan extension.He originally started out at Millwall and has also taken in West Ham United, Glasgow Rangers, Watford, Shrewsbury Town and Ebbsfleet United, plus loans at Gillingham, Bradford City, Swindon Town and Hereford United, during his career.  "We've signed a very very good striker and I've been talking about him for a while and have been trying to get him to York," manager Gary Mills told York's official website. "He's a goalscorer and he's here on a loan basis and I am delighted to have him."Nigerian-born Ashikodi increases attacking options at Bootham Crescent over the next couple of weeks as leading marksman Jason Walker is set for a three-game suspension after being sent-off against former club Barrow.
