York sign midfielder Challinor

York City have added midfielder Jon Challinor to their squad ahead of the transfer deadline. Challinor, 30, was on non-contract terms at Kettering and played in the Northamptonshire side's 5-1 defeat by York in midweek.Manager Gary Mills told BBC Radio York: "I thought when he came on the other night he was their best player in the second half."I've been looking for someone like him so we decided to go for Jon."Mills added: "He's an experienced, good player, one we nearly brought in before the start of the season."He was still available even though he was on non-contract at Kettering."He knows what the league is all about."It's an opportunity for him to come to a fantastic club and he's walked in with the biggest smile on his face."I'm delighted to have him to make the squad a bit stronger."Challinor has also played for Aldershot Town and Exeter City as well as Rushden & Diamonds, Cambridge United, Mansfield and Newport County.
