York City have signed Jamie Clarke from Grimsby while letting fellow midfielder Andy Ferrell leave.Clarke, formerly of Rochdale, Boston and Mansfield, has joined York for the rest of the season, while Ferrell has gone to Gateshead on a permanent deal. [LNB]York manager Martin Foyle told BBC Radio York: "There was interest in Clarke from other clubs but he's delighted to be coming here. [LNB]"He can play anywhere across the middle and also drop into the back four." [LNB]On Ferrell's departure he added: "Gateshead came in for Fez, I gave Andy the option and he came in asking to go. [LNB]"They've offered him a good deal financially, more than we can afford, and they've offered him next year and the year after if he plays 20 games. I felt I couldn't stand in his way. [LNB]"He'll be missed in certain ways, but it's my job to fill the holes." [LNB]Teenager Michael Emmerson, who has come through the ranks at Bootham Crescent, has had his contract terminated after several spells out on loan. [LNB]"We've got to push one or two of the other younger players through to train with us now, with a view to contracts in the summer," Foyle added.
